Davinder Chatha – Lead Physiotherapist

Davinder specialises in spinal rehabilitation, discs, nerves and joints and has developed a unique approach using a range of manual therapy techniques.

Optispine uses the latest and most advanced equipment and techniques, specifically designed to help people with back and joint problems.

Our Approach

At Optispine, our approach is to use manual therapy to restore mobility and function, and also to reduce pain in joints and the surrounding tissue.

Our experience has shown that a thorough assessment followed by extensive hands-on therapy, produces more profound therapy outcomes.

Research has shown that a combination of manual therapy, exercise and lifestyle change is the most effective way to resolve musculoskeletal disorders.

We incorporate the latest and most advanced equipment and techniques into our physiotherapy, to achieve the best possible results for our patients. Each case is unique and we select the appropriate treatments to create a tailored plan.

Treatments

To maximise the effectiveness of our physiotherapy techniques, we use a whole variety of supportive methods.

We invest in the most advanced equipment to offer relief to our patients and deliver significant results in their treatment.

Patients are fully evaluated and the appropriate procedures are incorporated into highly personalised programmes. These may include:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Laser therapy
  • Shockwave therapy
  • Magnet therapy
  • Theraflex therapy
  • Ultrasound therapy

Techniques

Manipulative Therapy

Manipulation is a hands-on therapy aimed at specific joints and structures. It uses directional forces to release stiff joints and allow them to move more freely with reduced pain. Our unique methods don’t require excessive force which reduces the need for ‘cracking’ and encourages the joints to move back into position naturally. The majority of our physiotherapy involves this technique and we achieve some remarkable results.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points, also known as myofascial trigger points, are areas of hyperirritability in the soft tissue structure. They appear as small contraction knots in the muscles that control contraction, and active ones may cause muscle spasm and referred pain. The practitioner, who is able to locate the specific points causing pain and restricted movement, applies firm pressure. This can be combined with stretching to relieve spasm and pain.

Spinal Decompression

Our unique hands on decompression therapy aims to open up the facet joints and reduce the pressure on the spinal discs. It is this excessive force on the discs that causes them to prolapse and can ultimately cause sciatica and pain in the spine. Decompression therapy allows the pressure to be taken away from the discs, helping the prolapsed disc to settle back into place and reduce pain.

Muscle Energy Techniques

Used to overcome restriction and pain in joints, Muscle Energy Therapy works with both tension and patient participation for maximum effect. As the patient contracts a muscle, it causes certain responses within the body that allow the muscles to relax. This increases the range of movement and reduces pain. Studies have shown that these techniques can significantly decrease disability and improve functionality in patients with problems such as lower back pain.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)

PNF is an effective therapy to lengthen muscles and soft tissue. Developed by a neurophysiologist to treat patients with paralysis, these techniques use a combination of stretching and contraction to increase flexibility. This form of therapy is ideal for acute and chronic pain; loss of range of movement; muscle tightness; muscle cramp; and loss of flexibility.

I have been going to Optispine Wombourne for a few years now. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.
